BETWEEN SEASONS
Summer ball is winding down, and a little break is coming up before your school’s fall ball program begins. How should you spend this time?
Rest.
If you want a better grip on something, you must first let it go. Unplug from the game for an entire week. Don’t pick up a ball. Don’t put on your glove. Don’t pick up a ball. Let your mind and body rest. This is NOT being lazy. This is NOT slacking off. This is something you’re doing ON PURPOSE to make yourself a better player. Like everything else we do, plan for it and execute it.
Reconnect.
Use the hours normally spent in a batting cage or on a baseball field to reconnect with the people you care most about. They love and support you, and this is the perfect opportunity to give that love and support back. Friends and family make everything in our lives possible. Don’t take them for granted.
Re-energize.
After a week, get back in the weight room and get a jump start on your fall lifting program. Get strong. Get flexible. Get ready for fall workouts and tryouts. Less skill work and more physical movement. Prepare your body for the challenges ahead.
Don’t miss this opportunity to reset your mind and body. The next one won’t come along for quite some time…
