A LITTLE BIT A LOT: Your Summer Development Strategy
High school season is over. Some of you achieved everything you wanted—individually and as a team. Others fell short of your goals.
Here’s what typically happens during the season: development takes a back seat to competition. We only work on hitting when we’re struggling at the plate. We only focus on receiving when we’re losing strikes behind the dish. This reactive approach limits your growth.
Summer is recruitment season.
You have 2.5 months to compete at the highest level and get in front of college recruiters who can change your future. But don’t make the same mistake—don’t let development take a back seat again.
The Strategy: “A Little Bit A Lot”
Summer baseball is demanding. 8 AM games, doubleheaders, 90+ degree heat for hours. This is exactly where champions separate themselves from the competition. Elite athletes find ways to improve no matter the circumstances.
We’re not expecting you to show up two hours early for that 8 AM game. But you can find 15 minutes. Over a 3-5 day tournament, those 15-minute sessions add up to real improvement.
Apply this to everything:
- Arm care and throwing programs
- Cage work and swing mechanics
- Strength training
- Nutrition and hydration
- Mental preparation
The truth about sustained success:
There’s no secret formula. Stay disciplined. Take small, consistent steps daily toward your goals.
While your competition is making excuses about the heat, the schedule, or the grind—you’re getting better. That’s what separates recruited players from everyone else.
Make this summer count. A little bit, a lot.
