Your school team is wrapping up the season, and soon you’ll transition to your travel team or collegiate summer ball.  A lot of players play more for themselves than their team when they switch into “summer” mode.

Don’t fall into this trap!

A team-first mindset is crucial because winning is the whole point of the game.  Nobody ever played better by playing selfishly, and nobody ever played worse by putting the team first.  On the other hand, many players have made their teams worse by playing selfishly, while others have helped them win simply by being good teammates, regardless of how they played.

And, honestly, whatever level you’re playing at, teams at the next level are actively looking for players who will help their teams win.

So, keep your team-first mindset even during summer ball.  Winning is better than losing in any league.  And besides, the scouts are watching …
