WHIFFLE BALL
When was the last time you played wiffle ball in the back yard? Remember that? Just hanging out with your friends and family, hitting a ball with a bat just for fun. I bet you weren’t thinking about ground force, getting into your hinge, or how tight your turn was. And I bet you absolutely raked!
But now, even after the umpire says “PLAY ball,” you’re still worried about all the stuff you worked on in practice. Anxiety creeps in, tension radiates through your body, and your swing stiffens and falls apart. Your backyard swing was so much better simply because you were just having fun, and you can get back to that swing by remembering one thing:
Practice is over. It’s time to play!
In your next game, walk up to the plate with the same swagger you had in the back yard swinging that long yellow plastic bat, and take aim at the fences. At the worst, you’ll have some fun for a change.
More likely, you’ll rake like you did back in the day…
