STRUGGLING? Join the Club!

We all struggle.  What do you do when you struggle? Do you embrace the struggle or run from it? Are you someone who focuses on the long term process or gets swallowed up by the short term set backs?

Whether it is poor finances, changes in relationships, a turn in career path, or a enduring a “never-ending” hitting slump, the feeling of despair is real.  

 

It hurts to “fail”.  

It hurts when you give credence to what others think.

And it especially hurts when you beat yourself up.

 

That voice in our head can be cruel and we must refrain from allowing it to batter us in its cruelty because it truly is the thing that prolongs our struggles.

It is hard to embrace struggle because it is not comfortable.  We all would like the easy button to simply push and have all the answers rather than dare look into the struggle to better understand how to mitigate future struggles.  However, the work—the real work—it in sorting through the thoughts, patterns, and outcomes into constructive action plans that is uncomfortable. Why?  Because we have to sit with it.  We have to be vulnerable.  We have to be accountable.

The next time you struggle take the time to reflect and recognize the thoughts, patterns, and outcomes and accept that the voice knows some truths but is not telling the whole truth.  Your internal work will lead to you being able to filter the untruths out and fill in the narrative with your . In the silence we find our true voice.

And remember…As alone you may feel during the struggle, you are not alone.  You have survived worse. Get to the real work and begin the climb back to success.
